Coach Amanda McCoy:Amanda has been coaching volleyball for over 14 years. She served as a Junior Varsity and Varsity assistant at William Byrd, Liberty and Jefferson Forest High Schools where she learned the importance of fundamentals and basic skills for beginning players. She also served as the Varsity head coach for William Byrd High School, her alma mater, from 2008-2013 leading the Lady Terriers to three regional appearances, with many of her players receiving multiple district, regional and state honors. Amanda returned to Liberty High School from 2013-2015 restoring the program through basic skill work, teaching of dedication and discipline to the sport and emphasizing the importance of teamwork in all aspects. Currently Amanda is the head Varsity coach at Rockbridge High School where she also is a Special Education teacher. Throughout her years Amanda has attended various coaching clinics at Penn State University, served as a court coach for High Impact HP tryouts for USAV Juniors and is currently Impact certified through USA Volleyball. In 2009 she was named "Coach of the Year" for NRV. Amanda has had the privilege to help guide 12 players on to the Division III and Division II levels and serves as our club's recruiting contact for players and coaches.
Coach Karley Goad: Karley Goad began playing volleyball at the age of 14 and is from Botetourt county. Throughout her career Karley played at Lord Botetourt as an outside hitter and also played for several travel teams in the Roanoke Valley including Roanoke Juniors starting in 2008. Karley attended Johnson University where she was a starting outside hitter for the Lady Royals. After graduation, Karley continued to go to school online while working for the City of Roanoke. Karley was an assistant coach at Roanoke Catholic for one year. This will be her first year coaching with the Next Revolution Volleyball and is looking forward to a great season!
Coach Ayron Walker: Ayron Walker has played volleyball since she was in sixth grade. Ayron played four years of varsity volleyball at Franklin County High School and three years of travel volleyball for NRV at ages 16,17 and 18. She proceeded to play collegiately for four years at Appalachian State University as a middle and right side hitter. Ayron graduated from Appalachian State in 2017 and is a Masters’ student at Virginia Tech studying Nutrition. She will be the assistant coach under Amanda McCoy at NRV for the 17 Collegiate team. In her free time, she enjoys CrossFit, hiking, reading and walking her dog.
Coach Amanda Hristov: Amanda has been playing volleyball for over 20 years. She was a four year varsity starter during her high school career in New York, and was named All League and All County on several occasions. She has played in the Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association for years, serving on the board for many of those years. She has also played on several USAV women’s teams. Amanda has served as an assistant varsity coach at Roanoke Catholic, an assistant coach at William Fleming, and as a head coach of several juniors' teams in the area. Amanda is currently serving as the head coach for the Salem JV team and is looking forward to a great season coaching with NRV!
Coach John Hristov: John has been an avid volleyball player for years. He has played for many teams in the Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association and served as a board member for several years. He has also played USAV and can often be found playing doubles tournaments during the summer. John has been coaching for the last few years, including serving as an assistant coach for William Fleming varsity as well as several NRV teams. Currently, he is an assistant coach with the Salem varsity team and is looking forward to another great club season with NRV!
Coach Jon Stephenson: Jon has been playing volleyball in the Roanoke area for over 20 years. He has enjoyed playing doubles, quads and sixes with the Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association and with USAV since 1992. This will be Jon’s 5th year coaching for NRV, and he is looking forward to another great season!

Coach Basil Conner:Basil Conner has been involved with area volleyball for more than two decades. Basil has played doubles, triples, quads, and 6's for the last 25 years at RVVA and around the state. He also played USAV at various levels for 12 years. Basil served as an assistant coach at Salem HS for 12 years with Coach David Turk and at Roanoke College for two years. Basil has coached at Roanoke Valley Christian School's middle school, JV, and Varsity teams for eight years. Basil also has five years of experience coaching club teams with Roanoke Juniors, Roanoke United and NRV Volleyball Clubs.
Coach Russ Danstrom: Russ Danstrom began playing volleyball at age 17. He received his BA from University of Richmond in 1988 and his MBA from UNC in 1993. He played at Richmond Volleyball Club and RVVA in both 6's and doubles and played USVBA for 10 years as a Middle and Outside hitter. Russ has coached soccer, basketball and volleyball over the past 9 years. He has coached or assisted with U14-U18 juniors teams over years and has coached at Salem High School for the past 5 seasons.
Coach Aaron King:Aaron has played volleyball for many years; at Cave Spring High Boys Volleyball Club from '93-'95, VWCC Volleyball Team 1996, has been playing in the RVVA since 1993 and has played in USAV Adult Division of ODR. Aaron also has in-depth coaching experience. He was Assistant Coach at Lucy Addison in 1997, Head Coach at Roanoke Juniors, 14s-18s from 2000-2007, Assistant Coach at Hollins University in '03, Head JV Coach at Cave Spring High in '04, Head JV Coach and Varsity Assistant at Hidden Valley High from '05 to 2010, Head Varsity Coach at Roanoke Catholic School from 2011 to 2014 where his team won three straight VISAA Div III State Titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013 and was 3rd in 2014. Aaron has officiating experience as a VHSL volleyball official '95-2003 and at the collegiate level '00-'03. He also runs the Junior Doubles Outdoor Volleyball League in the spring each year and is a board member with the Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association. Aaron is IMPACT and CAP level certified. He has been a coach with NRV since '09 and is currently a board member for our club.
Coach Melissa Horan: Melissa has an extensive volleyball history, having played at Cave Spring High School and also playing on the Virginia Western volleyball team. She has served as a coach at Roanoke Catholic, and has coached with NRV for many seasons. As a head coach, her NRV teams have consistently ranked within the top 10 in the ODR Region. Melissa served as an assistant coach last year with Coach Aaron King, and their 16s team won the Shamrock Festival. This year she will be assisting the NRV 15s team alongside Head Coach Aaron King.

Coach Pierre Ellis:Pierre has been around volleyball for 20+ years as both a player and a coach. Playing time consists of RVVA leagues, doubles tournaments, and USVBA. Coaching experience includes several seasons of assistant varsity coach at Salem High and Head JV coach, Roanoke Catholic Head Coach, Northside High JV Assistant Coach, and six seasons of juniors coaching. Coach Ellis has coached 15s, 16s, and 17s for NRV, and assisted with the Developmental program in the 2011-2012 season before heading the program since 2012-2013. He was the recipient of the NRV Coach of the Year Award in 2008.

Coach Kelsey Kees:Kelsey Kees grew up outside of Chicago. Her parents were avid volleyball players and she started learning when she was 5 years old. At age 10, she started competing on travel volleyball teams. Her biggest playing accomplishment was making a team at Sports Performance Volleyball Club during high school and competing at National Qualifiers and AAU's in Florida. During her senior year of high school she started coaching and has coached 12+ teams ranging in age from 5th grade through high school. While attending college at Virginia Tech, Kelsey played on the club volleyball team at the D3 level and competed in the National Championships in 2010. Kelsey served as the head coach of the Roanoke Conquerors Home School JV and Varsity teams for several seasons. She enjoys coaching all ages and helping players improve their skills. At NRV, Kelsey has coached 16s, 17s and this is her third season at 14s. Kelsey returns to NRV for her fifth season and is looking forward to another great season!
Coach Scott Kelley: Scott is currently the head volleyball coach at William Byrd Middle School, having held that position since 2009, and has coached for NRV since 2014. He has assisted at the varsity level (William Byrd) and the collegiate level (Roanoke College), and has worked at a variety of camps over the years. He has also played sixes and doubles with the Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association since 1997. Scott lives in Vinton and teaches at William Byrd Middle School.

Coach Emily Gaston: Emily grew up in Hopkinton, MA and graduated from Roanoke College with a BA in Psychology in August 2013. Her love for volleyball was sparked at a 7th grade clinic and she hasn’t been able to get enough of it since! She played all 4 years in high school as an outside hitter, right side hitter, and defensive specialist/libero. During her high school years she also assisted at clinics, teaching girls the fundamentals of the game and hoping to ignite the same passion for the sport that she developed at their age. Emily played on a Massachusetts travel club team, SMASH Volleyball, which is one of the oldest Juniors Volleyball programs in New England. She now plays volleyball several times a week in the Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association. Emily has been an assistant coach her past two seasons with NRV, and is excited to be a head coach this season. She also coaches at Roanoke Catholic High School and assists with NRV’s Developmental program.
Coach Terri Craig:Coach Terri Craig is a long time coach with NRV. Her teams have won many tournaments over the years, including Gold at K2 Madness, Silver at Hi Neighbor, and numerous one day tournaments. Terri graduated from Northside High School in 1995, and was recognized as an All State setter and ranks #1 in assists in her career. She is a 2005 graduate of Ferrum College, where she majored in Parks Recreation and Leisure and played volleyball for the Panthers, where she ranks #1 in assists per game for her three-year career. Terri also played basketball for the Lady Panthers, who won the Dixie Conference in 2002. She has coached both junior varsity and varsity teams at several local high schools over the past 16 years. Terri took over the Head Volleyball Coach position at North Cross School in 2015 and led the Raiders to the state playoffs that same year. In 2016, the Raiders won both the regular season and Blue Ridge Conference titles for the first time since 1994, and placed 3rd in the VISAA state tournament. She is excited once again having her right-hand man and assistant coach, Scott Kelley, who together work magic as a coaching team.
Coach David Turk: David has coached volleyball in this area for over 30 seasons at the high school and collegiate level. He has been a very successful coach with a winning record almost every season. He has accumulated 10 district championships, 16 trips to regionals with at least one regional championship, at least 4 state appearances and 1 VHSL State AA championship. He has racked up numerous district, region, state, and Timesland Coach of the Year awards including the Gold Medal Coach of the Year award twice. He accumulated over 300 wins at Salem High School, Lord Botetourt High School, and Hollins University. David has earned a reputation of being a compassionate and knowledgeable coach who relates positively with his players. He is currently the head coach at Roanoke Catholic.
Coach Charity Harmon: Charity joins the NRV coaching staff after playing volleyball for 20 years. She served in the Army for five years and played intermural volleyball during that time. Charity also played volleyball while completing her Associates degree in Accounting at Virginia Western Community College. Charity is the mother of two young boys and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2018 from Grand Canyon University. She continues to play volleyball frequently, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our coaching family.
